POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT PRIMANIMA
550 submissions from around the world were sent to the fifth edition of Primanima, out of which 75 films from 22 countries were selected, including 5 Polish animated films.
Primanima World Festival of First Animation was organised for the first time in 2012. It is dedicated to diploma, student and first films.
This year, the viewers of the diploma film competition will watch Polish animated films: "A Documentary Film" and "The Gentle Giant" by Marcin Podolec, "Ink meets blank" by Tymon Albrzykowski and "Traces of ephemeral" by Agnieszka Waszczeniuk. In the student film competition, "Schroedinger's Dog" by Natalia Krawczuk will compete for the award.
"A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec is a portrait of a man whose grown-up children moved out of the family home, and memories of the past fill the last moments of his professional activity. "The Gentle Giant" is another animated documentary film by the director, whose characteristic line turns the protagonist's stream of words into a series of clear-cut, black-and-white images. The film's narrator is a poet who duels using verses and stanzas, an old-timer of poetry slams.
"Ink meets blank" by Tymon Albrzykowski tells about the concept of existence. About the continuous strutting forward on the path of development, accompanied by numerous changes, hesitation and doubts, as well as about the tragic end of this march, that is, death. These issues are discussed by the film using purely abstract means.
In "Traces of emphemeral," Agnieszka Waszczeniuk ponders the relationship between humankind and nature.
Natalia Krawczuk, in her black-and-white animated film "Schroedinger's Dog" shows how human relationships can be simple and complicated at the same time.
The festival is held from October 19 to 22 in Budaörs, Hungary. You can find more information on the organiser's website.
