ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS IN MARCH
March will abound in screenings of Polish animated films at the following film festivals.
On March 3 started the Portuguese festival Monstra. In the competition, you can watch "Sexy Laundry" by Izabela Plucińska, "under_construction" by Marcin Wojciechowski and "Summer 2014" by Wojciech Sobczyk. The festival screening includes also the animated film by Ewa Borysewicz, "To Thy Heart".
Three Polish animated films will be shown at the Spanish festival Mecal, starting on March 11 and lasting the whole month long. In the competition at the festival, there are, among others, "Woolen Cogwheels" by Bartosz Kędzierski, "Don't Lose Your Head" by Karolina Specht and "Domestication" by Sylwia Gaweł. Festival screenings are held every weekend until April 19, when the names of the award-winners will be announced.
From 15 to 24 March, the 54th edition of Ann Arbor is held - the experimental film festival which is organised uninterruptedly for the longest time in the world. In the competition, the following animated films will be shown: "Fugue For Cello, Trumpet and Landscape" by Jerzy Kucia and "St(on)es" by Marcin Giżycki.
From 16 to 20 March lasts Holland Animation Film Festival. In the competition screenings, there are some Polish films: "St(on)es" by Marcin Giżycki, "The Analysis of Emotions and Vexations" by Wojciech Bąkowski and "Black" by Tomasz Popakul. In the student competition, the following films will compete for the awards: "Yesterday's Record" by Michał Soja, "Kinki" by Izumi Yoshida, "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec and "Chainlets" by Alicja Błaszczyńska. Also a review of animated films by Mariusz Wilczyński is scheduled, and the film-maker himself will talk about the work on his latest film "Kill it and leave town." New screenings in the series O!PLA Across the Borders are also scheduled in March. The fourth edition of the festival will be held from March 20 to May 15 in almost 70 places across Poland, and in the competitions, 88 animated films will be shown.
