AWARDS FOR GĄSIOROWSKA AND PAJEK IN BRAZIL!
"Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska and "Impossible figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek won another awards, this time at the Janela Internacional de Cinema do Recife Festival.
On November 12th the 10th edition of the Janela Festival came to an end in Brazil. In the International Shorts Competition two Polish animations were awarded: "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska – for the best cinematography and "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek – for the best sound.
"Pussy" is a funny story about a young woman who spends the evening alone at home. She decides to give herself a treat, but not everything works out as smoothly as she has imagined. The animation has already visited and won awards at several international festivals including DOK Leipzig and AFI Fest. The movie review by Dagmara Marcinek is available in our Reading Room, and an interview with the director here.
"Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" is a second part of the tryptic based on the idea of impossible figures – the ones that can be put on paper but cannot exist in real life. The animated series is a statement about the role of a woman, determined in three different spaces: starting with the most intimate one – like home and family – and finishing with the wider social context. The film trailer is available here. The producer of Marta Pajek's tryptic is animation studio from Warsaw Animoon.
