THE SERIES "ANT GETS MARRIED" AWARDED IN ITALY

The festival Cartoons on the Bay, which celebrated its 21st edition this year, organised by the Italian television channel RAI, is one of the leading European television film festivals, showing productions from all over the world. Every year, within the frames of the festival, films are shown in eight competition sections, among others, best kids TV series, best TV pilot and best feature and short films. The festival jury gives the Pulcinella Awards to the best films. This year, the award for the best animated TV series for teenagers went to the series "Ant Gets Married," directed by Michał Poniedzielski.

"Ant Gets Married" is a humorous story about Ant, who lives in a typical European metropolis. The protagonist works for a corporation, goes to beautician, practises yoga, struggles with imaginary obesity, watches television and reads glossy magazines. She puts all her efforts in life in being independent, having a fine career, being beautiful and happy. However, she unconsciously dreams about great love, maybe even about children and family... The series begins when Ant realises this and decides to fall in love. What seems easy in theory, however, in practice verges on the impossible.

The series is based on a medium-length film of the same title, whose producer is the studio Animoon from Warsaw. The film's co-producers are Grupa Smacznego, the National Audiovisual Institute, Muzyczne Studio Produkcyjne Spot, Michał Poniedzielski and LSW. The film was made thanks to the financial support of the Polish Film Institute.

"Ant Gets Married" is a project in many formats. The TV series was made on the basis of a medium-length animated film. In the near future, a 15-minute festival version of the film, whose international promotion is organised by Krakow Film Foundation, will be available. The series acquired an international sales agent, the Canadian company HG Distribution.

"Ant Gets Married" is slated for distribution in Poland later this year. The series, consisting of thirteen episodes, will be available on player.pl.
