POLISH ANIMATED FILMS IN OTTAWA!

As many as four Polish films will be shown in September at the animated film festival in Ottawa.

Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is the oldest and at the same time, the most important festival dedicated to animated film in North America. The history of the Canadian festival began in 1976, with the first edition of the International Animation Festival, which was then organised every two years.

This year, OIAF received over 2311 submissions from 86 countries. From among them, 80 short and 7 full-length films were selected for the competition. In addition, 73 films will be shown in the programme of the festival. During the film event, also conferences will be held, as well as discussions, meetings with experts and workshops dedicated to animated film. The guest of honour at the anniversary festival is Donald McWilliams.

The film "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek will participate in the short film competition. It is the second part of the triptych based on the idea of impossible figures, that is, figures which can be drawn, but whose existence in reality is impossible. The animated series by the author is a statement on the role of women defined in three dimensions - starting from the most intimate one - such as home and family to the wider social context.  The producer of the triptych by Marta Pajek is the animated film studio Animoon in Warsaw.

Marta Magnuska in her "Foreign Body" tells about things, which seem strange and weird, but in reality, they are close to us - about the internal and external transformation. The film will be shown in the section for graduation films.

In "The Shavings," Agata Mianowska tells about a lumberjack, depressed by heartbreak, who meets his new love in the forest.

"Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska is a story of a young girl who spends an evening in her apartment. The protagonist decides to organise a session of pleasure only for herself, however, not everything goes according to the plan. The viewers will see this animation in the panorama of student film.

This year's festival is held from September 21 to 25.
