POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE 57TH KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL

The 57th Krakow Film Festival will once again abound with events connected with Polish animated film. In competition and non-competing screenings, over 15 films will be shown, as well as the retrospective of this year's winners of the Dragon of Dragons award.

Two Polish animated films will also compete for the Golden Dragon statuette in the international short film competition: "Strange Case" by Zbigniew Czapla and "Oh Mother!" by Paulina Ziółkowska. The first one is a surrealistic journey, a kind of internal monologue, filled with personal reflections and memories. The animated film by Paulina Ziółkowska is an extremely visually attractive story about a peculiar relationship between mother and son.

In the Polish competition, the latest animated films will be shown: "Cosmos" by Daria Kopiec, telling about a desperate need for another person, "Fish Scale" by Alicja Kot, showing how it feels to be "different" in a homogeneous, closed community, "Pandemic" by Krzysztof Kiwerski takes the viewer on a hypnotic journey, full of surprises, "The Escape" by Jarosław Konopka, who weaves a story about suffering, trauma and desolation in his puppet animation, and "The Event Horizon" by Michał Orzechowski, who presents in his film the most absurd visions and events, going beyond the boundary of "normality."

In the Panorama of Polish film, the viewers will watch two films: "Ink meets blank" by Tymon Albrzykowski and "The Last Room" by Marta Chyła-Janicka.

In the section "Festival Award Winners," the film "Pussy," directed by Renata Gąsiorowska will be shown.

And children (and adults) will have the opportunity to enjoy themselves during the screening of "Hug Me" by Mateusz Jarmulski.

In the programme of the 57th Krakow Film Festival, there is also a comprehensive retrospective of the works by this year's Dragon of Dragons award-winners: Witold Giersz and Daniel Szczechura and the artists' master classes: on the 31st of May and on the 2nd of June.
