A POLISH SPECIAL SCREENING IN PORTUGUESE VILA DO CONDE
This Thursday, before noon, the audience of the Portuguese festival CURTAS will get the chance of watching the special programme of Polish short films screened as a part of non-competitive European Panorama. Five films will be screened in the programme.
After last year’s success when festival’s Grand Prix was given to Magnus von Horn’graduation fiction “Without snow” this year no Polish films were selected to the competitive programme. Nevertheless there are some Polish features in the programme. The programme, orgaznised in collaboration with Krakow Film Foundation, will feature five short films, that during the last year marked their presence at the international film festivals. One will find three fiction films in the programme – “All souls’ day” by Aleksandra Terpińska, “Hamster” by Bartek Ignaciuk and “Mercy” by Eliza Subotowicz. The only documentary film in the set is “Freestyle life” by Adam Palenta, that was so far screened at more than 12 film festivals. The programme will be complimented by an animated “What happens when children don’t eat soup” made by Paweł Prewencki, screened and awarded at animated film festivals in Europe. This year also Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland will present their national programmes in Vila do Conde.Festival CURTAS held in Vila do Conde is one of the leading festival focusing on short film in Portugal. Every year it gathers the audience of 20 000 viewers. The festival team with the support of Portuguese Film Institute runs a Short Film Agency, that promotes and diffuses Portuguese short films abroad. There are more than 140 documentary, animated, fiction and experimental films in the cathalogue.
21st edition of CURTAS Vila do Conde festival is held between 6th and 14th July.
