POLISH ANIMATIONS IN BRUSSELS
On February 8th one of the most important, european film festival for animated films – Anima - will start. Polish films will be screened both in the competitive and non-competitive sections.
The screening “At the heart of Europe” is a an overview of contemporary animation that offers a selection of the best recent films from Visegrad countries that were so far screened and awarded at international film festivals. The programme was composed of thirteen films from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Three Polish films in the set are documentary-driven “Paper box” by Zbigniew Czapla, oneiric “Sleepincord” by Marta Pajek and intriguing “Traps” by Renata Gąsiorowska. The other films in the programme are “The Case” by Martin Živocký, “You shall not leave the way!” by Veronika Szemlová, “ tWINs” by Peter Budinský and “Sorry” by Árpád Hermán to name just a few.The programme - made by Czech animation festival ANIFEST in collaboration with the Czech Centre, the Polish Institute in Brussels and the Ballassi Institute of Brussels - will be screened twice – on Sunday, 10th and Tuesday 12th February.
In the programme of 31st Brussels Anima one will also have a chance of watching other Polish animated films. Feature-length “Crulic. The Path to Beyond” – a Polish-Romanian coproduction by Anca Damian made it straight to the main competition while a Polish-German “Bear Me” by Kasia Wilk will compete in the short student film section. Tomek Bagiński and his intro for “The Witcher 2” made it to the advertising film competition.
