SEPTEMBER FESTIVALS

In September, Polish documentary films appear on the screens of festival cinemas all around the world. Viewers at twenty four festivals will see thirteen films.

The French festivals Silhouette Film Festival and Aye Aye Film Festival Nancy will start at the beginning of the month. "Reception" by Marcin Bochniak and "3 days of freedom" by Łukasz Borowski are two Polish films qualified for the first competition. "Written in ink" by Martin Rath, the festival record-holder, will attempt to win the laurels in the second competition. As it can be expected from a record-holder, this is not by no means the only festival this month, on which you can see this film. The film will also be shown in the competitions of three important European festivals -Split Film Festival in Croatia, Encounters Film Festival and Raindance Film Festival in Great Britain, as well as in the competition programme of five American festivals: The San Francisco International Festival of Short Films, Phenom Film Festival, 7th Annual Harlem International Film Festival, Crested Butte Film Festival and Milwaukee Film Festival.

Many times award winner "Argentinian Lesson" directed by Wojciech Staroń has a chance of getting new trophies, as it was selected for the competition section of the festivals: Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries (Latvia) and Golden Boll International Film Festival (Turkey). Polish documentaries will also be seen in South Korea. At the DMZ Docs 2012 there will be special screenings of the films "Interrogation" by Adam Palenta and "H2O" by Tomasz Wolski.

As many as three Polish films are qualified for the competition at the St. Petersburg Message to Man International Film Festival: "We will be happy one day" by Paweł Wysoczański, "Paperbox" by Zbigniew Czapla and "3 days of freedom" by Łukasz Borkowski. It is worth noticing that all three films will appear also at other September festivals. The first of them in the 7th International Human Rights Film Festival in Albania, the second one - extremely interesting because of its animated form - 8th World Festival of Animated Films In Varna, the third - the aforementioned Silhouette festival.

The audience of British festival  Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival and Brazilian festival Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival will have a chance to get acquainted with "The Conversation" by Piotr Sułkowski. At both these festivals the film is included in the competition sections. Slovenian festival Stoptrik 2012 selected for its competition the film "Emperor's Toys" directed by five directors: Joanna Wójcik, Joanna Rusinek, Jarosław Moździerz, Tomasz Godfryd and Grzegorz Wierzchowski. "Dream of San Juan" directed by Joaquin del Paso and Jan Paweł Trzaska will fight for the awards in the competition at the Festival International Cine Puebla in Mexico - the home country of the director Joaquin del Paso.

These are not all Polish documentary films which will be shown in the competition sections of the festivals this September. "Paparazzi" by Piotr Bernaś will be seen within the frames of the 11th Open St. Petersburg Student Film Festival Beginning and "38.5" by Grzegorz Dębowski will appear at 9th Miskolc International Film Festival.
