WEEKEND AWARDS FOR "WITHOUT SNOW" AND "FROZEN STORIES"
The last weekend of October brought Polish filmmakers two awards. Two films by the graduates of the Polish National Film School in Łódź - Magnus von Horn and Grzegorz Jaroszuk were among the award-winners of the festivals in Kiev and Luxembourg.
The programme of this year's 42nd edition of the Ukrainian festival Molodist consisted of over 300 films, which one could see in four competition sections (students' films, short films, full-length début films, Ukrainian films) and numerous accompanying programmes. Among the sixty competition films shown in the short film section there were three Polish films: documentary "Reception" by Maciej Bochniak, animation "Sleepincord" by Marta Pajek and short fiction "Without snow" by Magnus von Horn. On Sunday evening it was short by von Horn that received the Honourable Mention for exceptional depiction of teenagers' problems. Lava Films is the coproducer of the film. Festival Molodist took place from 20 to 28 October.From 2008 the Luxembourgian festival Cineast takes place in Autumn. The festival is dedicated to films from Central Europe and every year it presents the best short and full-length films produced in this region. As many as seven Polish films found their way to the short film competition: documentaries: "Returns" by Krzysztof Kadłubowski, "The Strong Woman" by Olo Pawluczuk, "Through Glass" by Igor Chojna and "Muka" by Kordian Kądziela, fiction short "Frozen Stories" and animations "Oranges" by Marta Szymańska and "Noise" by Przemysław Adamski. In this section 50 films from 12 Central European countries met. The film by Grzegorz Jaroszuk was chosen the audience's favourite, and it got the Audience's Award, given at the festival for the first time in its history.
