„GLASGOW” AND „PLANETE KIRSAN” AWARDED IN ITALY
Last weekend brought new laurels to Polish filmmakers! Poles scored two top awards of the Italian Euganea Film Festival, that came to an end last Saturday.
This year’s, eleventh edition of Euganea Film Festival, gathered the audience craving to watch the newest documentary and short films produced around the world. Films were screened in four competitive cathegories, in frames of which the best documentary, animated, short and regional films were selected.On Saturday’s evening the jury announced the list of the best films of this year’s competition – among them two Polish titles. First, it was “Glasgow” by Piotr Subbotko that received the award for the Best Short Film. On delivering the verdict the jury noted the following: “for the originality of the story, drawn precisely with just a few lines, where the protagonist is forced to be a man but cannot stop being a child”. Another award – this time for the Best Documentary – went to Magdalena Pięta for her beautiful “Planete Kirsan”. The jury gave the following explanation: “Magdalena Pięta takes us by the hand and leads us to the discovery of Kalmykia with its rules, its atrocities, its melancholy - a place where the childhood dreams whisper quietly yearning impossible in a world of constantly fighting adults”.
“Glasgow” - numerously screened and awarded abroad – is a debut by Piotr Subbotko, produced in frame of 30 minutes programme by Munk Studio in coproduction with Wajda Studio while “Planete Kirsan” screened so far at more than 10 festivals, in Italy scored its second award. The film was produced by Eureka Media.
Festival Euganea was held between 6th and 22nd July.
