THE AWARDS OF THE 52nd KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL
On Sunday evening the 52nd edition of Krakow Film Festival came to an end. The festival that ran in Krakow for the last seven days brought to Krakow the most exceptional short films made over the last one and a half years all over the world. At the closing ceremony the jury announced the best films of the festival.
In Krakow films were screened in three main competitions. Apart from the awards presented to the best Polish film and documentary longer than 30 minutes, films competed also in the competition for international short films. This year there were 46 films representing the animation, documentary and fiction genre screened in the Polish competition. The National Competition Jury consisting of: Michał Kwieciński– the chairman, Marcin Giżycki, Magnus von Horn, Tomek Sikora and Tomasz Wolski has decided to award the Golden Hobby-Horse toLidia Duda, the director of “Entangled”, for taking up a difficult subject and finding the appropriate form for it.Silver Hobby-Horse for the director of the Best Documentary Film was handed over to Jacek Piotr Bławut - the director of “Loneliness Of Sound’. Paweł Dębski, the director of ”Lumberjack” received the Silver Hobby-Horse for the Director of the Best Animated Film while the Silver Hobby-Horsefor the director of the Best Fiction Film went to Tato Kotetishvili for his “Watermelon”.The Student Jury for National Competition decided to award Filip Jacobson and his “Walk” for the ability to convey universal human truths in a subtle and non-pushy way, that at the same time are able to intensely enter the viewer’s mind.It is worth emphasizing that the Special Mention in the International Short Film Competition went to “Freestyle Life”, directed by Adam Palenta (Poland) - for his sensitivity and respect for the protagonists and in dealing with such a delicate subject.
