ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS IN JANUARY

New Year means new screenings of Polish animated films around the world. In January, the festivals will gather pace in the second half of the month. We will root for the animated films at the festivals in Sundance, the French Premiers Plans and the Italian Trieste.

In the first half of January, only "Creatures" by Tessa Moult-Milewska will represent Polish animated film at a festival abroad. Today, starts the  Festival De Cortomestrajes Jose Francisco Rosado Pacas in Spain. The film will also be shown at Paura. International Terror Film Festival at the end of the month.

In January, the most popular film, as far as the number of screenings is concerned, is the animated film "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska. The film will be shown four times. On January 18th, starts the 11th edition of the Lithuanian Vilnus International Short Film Festival.

Then, the film by Gąsiorowska appears at one of the most important independent film festivals, Sundance in the USA. Apart from "Pussy," the following short films are invited to the competition: "Close Ties" by Zofia Kowalewska and "Heat" by Agata Trzebuchowska and Mateusz Pacewicz.

The next day, "Pussy" appears at Premiers Plans Film Festival in France, where as many as twenty Polish short films will be shown. Among the animated films shown in the competition, "Leaven" by Artur Hanaj and "Locus" by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi are also included, in addition to "Pussy." As many as 11 animated films will be shown in the non-competing screenings.

At the end of the month, "Pussy" will compete for the award at the Norwegian Minimalen Short Film Festival.

"Hippos" by Piotr Dumała,  "Schrödinger's Dog" by Natalia Krawczuk and "Rivers" by Daria Kopec will be shown in Denmark at VOID - International Animation Film Festival.

Polish films will also be screened at the Italian Trieste Film Festival: "Super Film" by Piotr Kabat, "Locus" by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi and "Ink meets blank" by Tomasz Albrzykowski.
