TWO POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL MESSAGE TO MAN

As many as two Polish animated films compete for the awards in the competitions at the film festival in St.Petersburg.

"Message to Man" is the only international Russian short, documentary and animated film festival which is officially registered by the International Federation of Film Producers Association, with its headquarters in Paris. It was held for the first time in 1988. The festival offers to the Russian audience films of different form and style, belonging to various genres. The phrase "Message to Man," which is both the name of the festival and a slogan, brings attention to the transmission of values and the subject matter which is discussed in the films shown at the festival.

This year, over 7000 submissions were sent to the festival.

In the international competition section "In Silico" for short experimental films, the viewers will watch the film by MichaƂ Soja, "Yesterday's Record." It is an exercise in perceiving animated film. Hundreds of stimuli, the multiplicity of roles and cognitive tasks influence the chaotic image of reality, which forms in the mind. The realisation is the analysis of the perception of the unordered reality and an attempt to translate memory into the form of film. The author juxtaposes mechanical recordings registering the reality with subjective form of drawings, which constitutes a personal record of events.

In the short animated film competition, the film by Marta Pajek, "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" will compete for the award. It is the second part of the triptych based on the idea of impossible figures, that is, figures which can be drawn, but whose existence in reality is impossible. The animated series by the author is a statement on the role of women defined in three dimensions - starting from the most intimate one - such as home and family to the wider social context. The producer of the triptych by Marta Pajek is the animated film studio Animoon in Warsaw.

The festival lasts until September 30.
