POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN JANUARY

In January, the festival season starts very slowly. The beginning of the year is primarily the time of summing up. Still, there will be no lack of some really important festivals, such as the Slamdance, the Vilnius International Short Film Festival, the Premier Plans and the Clermont-Ferrand. The most important events start in the middle of the month. Let's find out which Polish animated films will be shown in January at the international festivals.

The first event, at which we will watch a Polish animated film, is the London Short Film Festival, starting on the 10th of January. This is where "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul will compete for further awards. Five days later, in Belgium starts the Courts Mais Trash - Brussels Independent Short Film Festival. The viewers and the jurors will watch  "You Are Overreacting."   The animated film by Karina Paciorkowska is also invited to the 13th edition of the Vilnius International Short Film Festival. In the programme of the Lithuanian festival, there are two other Polish animated films: "Story" by Jola Bańkowska and "My Strange Elder Brother" by Julia Orlik.

In Serbia, we will see "The Little Soul" by Barbara Rupik. The film will compete for the awards at the SHORTZ Festival. Another chance for awards for this film is the French festival Premiers Plans. The film by Rupik will not be the only Polish animated production which can be found in the programme of the event. In addition to "The Little Soul," "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul and "The Hunt" by Mateusz Jarmulski will be screened.

"You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska will have two screenings more. The film will be shown to the viewers at the Norwegian Minimalen Short Film Festival and at the French Le Temps Presse Festival.  And "My Strange Elder Brother" by Julia Orlik may win at the Swiss Black Movie Film Festival. In turn, "Ovule" by Natalia Durszewicz has a chance to conquer the hearts of the Spanish audience at the Tenerife Shorts - Tenerife International Short Film Festival.

At the end of the month, the 43rd edition of the Göteborg Film Festival is held. In the competition there, we will watch "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul. And on the last day of January starts the Slamdance festival. In the programme of the American event, we will find  "The Little Soul" by Barbara Rupik. Both films are also included in the LAB competition at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. You can read more about this event here.
