"III" WINS AT TRICKY WOMEN
It is yet another award this month for Marta Pajek's animation. At the Austrian festival "III" was chosen the best animation and the Polish director received a special Voucher for the postproduction of her next film.
Tricky Women/Tricky Realities Festival is Europe's first and only animated film festival dedicated solely to female filmmakers. This year's edition took place 13-17 March in Vienna. Each year the event turns out to be extremely popular - apart from the competition screenings the audience can look forward to several thematic sections, retrospectives and special screenings.
The Austrian festival unquestionably belonged this year to Marta Pajek. Few months ago the Polish director went to Vienna on a scholarship; she also made a trailer promoting this year's edition of the festival and, to top it all, won the main award for her film "III".
The winning animation tells a story of a middle aged woman and a man who meet in a waiting room. Slowly, they get closer. He helps her take off her heavy, black fur coat that covers her naked body. That's how the game between them begins: they keep seducing and exposing each other. Their hands reach inside their bodies where organs resemble botanical structures.
Marta Pajek's film wasn't the only Polish production presented at the festival. The following films were also invited to this year's competition: "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska, "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska and "Three Women on a Bench" by Karolina Borgiasz, whereas "Thicket" by Adrianna Matwiejczuk, "Oh God" by Betina Bożek, "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht and "My Strange Elder Brother" by Julia Orlik were shown outside of the competition.
