POLISH ANIMATION AT THE BRAZILIAN FESTIVAL
This year’s edition of International Festival BRASIL STOP MOTION (27.11 – 01.12.2012, Recife) will feature a panorama screening presenting Polish puppet and stop motion animation on the 65th anniversary of Polish animated film.
BRASIL STOP MOTION that is organized from 2011 in Recife, a capital of Pernambuco province, is one of three festivals worldwide (aside of Canadian Montreal Stop Motion and Polish-Slovenian Stoptrik) dedicated exclusively to puppet and stop motion animation.On the very first day of the festival – in frames of the Polish Stop Motion – a programme composed of 16 films demonstrating different approach to puppet and stop motion animation, the following films will be screened: “In the time of King Krakus” (1947) by Zenon Wasilewski, „Circus” (1954) by Włodzimierz Haupe, „School” (1959) by Walerian Borowczyk, „Cats and the pussycats” (1964) by Tadeusz Wilkosz, „The Little Quartet” (1965) by Edward Sturlisa, „The Little Mongrel” (1969) by Lidia Hornickia, „Barnaba the Dragon” (1977) by Tadeusz Wilkosz, „The Race” (1989) by Marek Serafiński, „Tram” (2007) and „Escape” (2009) Moniki Kuczynieckiej, „Zbigniev’s cupboard” (2010) by Magdalena Osińska, „Noise” (2011) by Przemysław Adamski and Katarzyna Kijek, „Afternoon” (2009) by Izabela Plucińska and „Once there was a king...” (2011) by Tytus Majerski, „Every Girl has a boy” i ”Toys” (2011) both by Monika Kuczyniecka.
A clay animation workshop run by Monika Kuczyniecka will be one of the highlights of the II BRASIL STOP MOTION Festival. Kuczyniecka is the author of awarded plasticine videos made for Polish bands such as Czesław Śpiewa, Dagadana, Voo Voo, Bajzel.
