SIX POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL IN ANNECY!
One of the most important animated film festivals in the world - Annecy - announced the list of films qualified for this year's competitions. Among them, there are Polish animated films.
The festival in Annecy is one of the most important and one of the oldest festivals in Europe, dedicated to animated film. Every year, it attracts over 150 thousands of viewers, and it also turns into a meeting place of professionals connected to the animated film industry, coming from around the world. This year, 2600 films were submitted to participate in the 41st edition of the festival. Over 200 short films are invited to four competition sections and non-competing sections. In Annecy, the films will compete for the best short film award, the best television film award, the best commissioned film award and the best student film award, and the best of them will get the Cristal awards.
This year, three Polish animated films are included in the short film competition: "Cosmos" by Daria Kopiec, "Moczarski's Case" by Tomasz Siwiński and "The Escape" by Jarosław Konopka.
"Cosmos" is a poetic film about physical love. About a talking body. About muscles, skin, heart which yearn for a touch. About the body which wants to experience the presence of another body.
"Moczarski's Case" is animated portrait of Kazimierz Moczarski, a captain of the Home Army, the author of "Conversations with an Executioner." The film tells the story of his life in a metaphorical way, as well as shows his confrontation with the SS-General, the liquidator of the Warsaw Ghetto - Jürgen Stroop.
"The Escape" is inspired by the Volhynia massacre of Poles. The medium for carrying the ideas included in the film is a puppet, created and brought to life using the classic puppet animation technique: stop motion.
In the student film competition, three Polish animated films will also compete for the award: "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska, "Oh Mother" by Paulina Ziółkowska and "Incarnation" by Barbara Rupik.
"Pussy" is a funny story of a young girl who spends an evening in her apartment.
"Oh Mother" is a story of an overprotective mother and her adolescent son. Their relationship is a constant swapping of places.
In "Incarnation," a man, left alone with nature, teeters on the edge of life and death.
This year, once again, a delegation of Polish film-makers and animated film producers will be present at the MIFA market, held simultaneously with the festival.
This year's festival lasts from June 12 to 17.
The list of films qualified for the feature-length film competition will be revealed at the end of April, whereas the programme of the festival will be announced in May.
