We have recently informed about an award for Barbara Rupik’s animation. Now, the film – together with Julia Orlik’s latest work – has been noticed by the jury of the Premiers Plans festival in France and received the special Extra Short (Prix l’Extra Court) Prize.

Held in Angers, the Premiers Plans festival presents films by debuting European directors. The program includes fiction films, animated ones, and documentaries. Attendees get to see the first films made by promising filmmakers as well as get acquainted with the rich output of established directors – with several retrospectives dedicated to them.

In spite of its title and synopsis, This Will Not Be a Festival Film has turned out to be a festival favorite. The award at the French festival is another proof of this fact. This time, the film left the event with the special Extra Short (Prix l'Extra Court) prize.

Director Julia Orlik's explication: This one-sentence description is like my film – un-festival-like. It's a film about a film school student who is working on her graduation film.

In turn, Such Miracles Do Happen by Barbara Rupik received the Prix Nef Animation.

One day, all the sculptures in the area come to life. They come out of roadside chapels, leave their pedestals, and slowly start marching forward, all in the same direction. They don't even stop for a moment. People are observing this phenomenon with growing anxiety. No one knows why the figures are moving and where they are going. Only a little girl, with a boneless body, is delighted with this procession of unusual characters. Without muscles, they walk, although they shouldn't. How strange!
