POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN AUGUST
The 71st edition of the Melbourne International Film Festival begins in early August. One of the competitions has invited Marta Magnuska's Misaligned. This isn't the film's only screening this month. The animated film will get the chance to win prizes at the Imaginaria International Animation Film Festival. The program of this Italian event also includes And The Cranes Kept Dancing by Natasza Cetner, Telsche by Sophie Colfer and Ala Nunu, and Composition of Existing Experiences by Joanna Szlembarska. The second film will also be screened to the jury and audience of the La Guarimba Film Festival. Slow Light by the Kijek/Adamski duo will be competing for their attention too.
The audience at the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival will get to see the animated All My Fucking Superheroes by Piotr Kabat.
It's shaping up to be an excellent month for Piotr Chmielewski's film and his animated short. Crab visits Austria where – along with Izumi Yoshida's The Bridge – it will be competing for awards, then travels to Italy for the MoliseCinema Film Festival, followed by the IFI Family Festival in Ireland, and the São Paulo International Short Film Festival in Brazil.
Two festivals kick off in Estonia in the second half of August. At the UiT City Festival, attendees will get to see an out-of-competition screening of Ewa Borysewicz's To Thy Heart, while Andrzej Jobczyk's Airborne will be competing for awards at Animist Tallinn. In turn, the competition program of the Nancy International Film Festival features The Bridge by Izumi Yoshida.
