“THE BOY AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD” SELECTED FOR TALLINN BLACK NIGHTS COMPETITION
The feature-length animated film "The Boy at the Edge of the World", directed by Grzegorz Wacławek and Marta Szymańska, is set to receive its international premiere in the Just Film competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF).
This selection marks a remarkable distinction for this Polish production. The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is among the largest and most prestigious film events in the region, holding the elite Class A accreditation from FIAPF for international
feature film competitions. The Just Film section is dedicated to works that marry considerable artistic merit with socially and emotionally relevant topics that are addressed to younger audiences. The inclusion of The Boy at the Edge of the World in this competition just a prestigious distinction but also grants Polish animation a significant platform on the international stage, providing invaluable exposure to the global film industry.
The film is produced by Animoon, a Polish production house famed for its commitment to projects of exceptional artistic and narrative quality. The production has attracted both Polish and international co-producers. The Black Nights Film Festival will be held on 8-24 November 2025 in Tallinn, with the film Polish theatrical release scheduled for 2026. The film has been produced in Poland with financial support granted by the Polish Film Institute under the audiovisual production financing act, using funds provided by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
