POLISH ANIMATED SHORTS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN NOVEMBER
If you thought there was a lot going on at international animated film festivals in October, buckle up for November. Polish animation will present at ZINEBI 64, Estonia's PÖFF Shorts or Slovakia's Animateka, among others, and that is definitely not all. Be sure to check out where to see short Polish animated films later this month
The US-based Denver Film Festival will feature Andrea Guizar's Toothless. The film will also be screened at the Film School Fest Munich in Germany, where Hierophany by Maria Nitek and Five Minutes Older by Sara Szymańska have also qualified for the competition.
The Cinanima International Animated Film Festival will take place in Portugal in early November. The program features Headprickles by Katarzyna Miechowicz, Love in Times of Coal-Based Economy by Tomasz Siwiński, I'm Here by Julia Orlik, 98 kg by Izabela Plucińska, This Will Not Be a Festival Film by Julia Orlik, Airborne by Andrzej Jobczyk, and Insect by Marcin Podolec.
At Germany's Braunschweig International Film Festival, audiences will see Fury by Julia Siuda, and in Brazil audiences will be joined by a jury judging the film My Fat Arse and I by Yelyzaveta Pysmak at the MOV International Student Film Festival. The latter animated film will also be shown at KFFK/Kurzfilmfestival Köln in Germany.
In November, Headprickles by Katarzyna Miechowicz will go to Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, while Joanna Kożuch's Once There Was a Sea… has been invited to compete at the DOC NYC New York's Documentary Festival.
A total of two Polish animated films were included in the competition program of ZINEBI 64 – International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao. Hierophany by Maria Nitek, Misaligned by Marta Magnuska will both go to Spain.
Once again Andrzej Jobczyk's Airborne will soar around the world in search of more awards. The film will land at, among others, Piccolo Festival dell'Animazione in Italy, the UK's Manchester Animation Festivali and LIAF London International Animation Festival, where Fury has also been invited, Canada's Longue Vue sur le Court Festival, and France's International Festival Tous Courts Aix-en-Provence.
PÖFF Shorts starts in the middle of the month. You'll get to see two Polish animations in Estonia – The Visit by Mateusz Jarmulski and Fury. The animated film by Julia Siuda is also planning a trip to Spain for the L'Alternativa Barcelona Independent Film Festival. Beasts Among Us by Natalia Durszewicz will be flying to Italy at the same time.
If that doesn't seem like enough, it's worth taking a look at the program of two important European festivals dedicated to animated film. The Hungarian Anilogue International Animation Festival will feature Love in Times of Coal-Based Economy by Tomasz Siwiński, Beasts Among Us by Natalia Durszewicz, 98 kg by Izabela Plucińska, and Fury. In turn, as many as nine Polish animations will be screened at the Animateka International Animated Film Festival in Slovenia. Love in Times of Coal-Based Economy, This Will Not Be a Festival Film, Hierophany by Maria Nitek, 98 kg, Fury, Beasts Among Us, as well as The Visit by Mateusz Jarmulski, and Joanna Dudek's Ashes have been invited into the competition, while Airborne to the non-competitive segment.
