POLISH PROJECTS AWARDED AT VISEGRAD ANIMATION FORUM
At the beginning of May, the sixth edition of Visegrad Animation Forum was held. As many as four Polish projects participated in the pitching competition, and two of them were awarded.
VAF was established by the Association of Czech Animation Film (ASAF), which represents Czech producers and their studios. This year's edition was organised in co-operation with the associations from Poland (Polish Animation Producers Association), Slovakia (APAF), Slovenia (DSAF) and the Hungarian university Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
This year, four Polish projects participated in the pitching competition, and two of them were awarded. The feature-length international project "Of Unwanted Things and People," directed by David Súkup (the Czech Republic), Ivana Laučíkova (Slovakia), Leon Vidmar (Slovenia) and Agata Gorządek (Poland) won the award for the best feature-length project. The people responsible for this project are: Martin Vandas (MAUR film, the Czech Republic), Juraj Krasnohorský (Artichoke, Slovakia), Kolja Saksida (ZVVIKS, Slovenia) and Wojtek Leszczynski (WJT, Poland). The award-winning project qualified for the prestigious Cartoon Movie 2019. The project also won the audience award and the Nespresso Audience Award.
From among 11 projects submitted to the short film competition, the jury awarded the special prize to the project I Come Undone by Piotr Chmielewski. This project was also given the Post Production Award, sponsored by Playade Sound Studio. The award, amounting to 1000 EUR, will cover sound post-production and the hire of the studio for five days. In addition, Piotr Chmielewski was given a grant amounting to 1 500 EUR from the representative of Animation Sans Frontieres Tim Leborg.
