POLISH TITLE: ŚWIADEK 1919-2004

A scarecrow standing in a characteristic Polish landscape is a witness to dramatic episodes of Polish history. World wars, socio-economic system transitions and socio-economic development as well as national dramas are symbolically depicted as costumes in this animation. Dramatic score by Zygmunt Konieczny adds expressivity to Krzysztof Kiwerski’s artistic vision. The film received a Golden Line at the 16th Polish National Festival of Animated Films OFAFA 2008.

Krzysztof Kiwerski »

Born in 1948 in Poznań. A graduate of the Painting and Graphic Arts Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, he makes paintings, computer graphics and motion graphics. He has realized 38 animation films including four feature-length animations. His films have been screened at film festivals in, among others, Annecy, Cannes, Chicago, Huesca, Oberhausen, Tours, New York, Poznań and Kraków. They have won many awards and distinctions, along with his graphics and paintings.
