THE LEADER

POLISH TITLE: WÓDZ

A black limousine stops under the leader’s magnificent palace. A long, red carpet is rolled out. The leader wakes up. After a blood transfusion he is dressed in a gala uniform, he puts in his false teeth and he is ready for the parade. He passes through the lane of people… We can hear cheers, caps go up into the air, a girl throws a bunch of flowers, television cameras keep working. After the parade all that can be done is to collect decorations…

Marian Cholerek »

born in 1946 in Bielsko-Biała. He is a screenplay writer, director and producer. From 1969 to 1996 he was connected with the Animated Film Studio and at present he is the head of Studio M. He has been a laureate of many festival awards (Bratislava, Oberhausen, Teheran, Cracow). His most important films include: Strzelnica (1975), Oracz (1981), Odloty (1983), Dwunasta zero zero (1987).
