"LITTLE SOUL" WINS A SPECIAL MENTION IN MEXICO

The animated film by Barbara Rupik received a special mention in the student film competition at the Animasivo Festival De Animación Contemporánea in Mexico.

The Animasivo is a festival which was established in 2008. The organisers aim to present and promote art house and independent animated film productions made by young film-makers. Generating the appropriate, creative space for beginner film-makers from Mexico and abroad is an important element of the festival.

This year's programme of the Animasivo was very rich and open to productions from Poland. This year, as many as 13 Polish films waited for the viewers. At the Mexican festival, you could watch the greatest festival hits of the last months, such as: "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul, "Story" by Jola Bańkowska, "III" by Marta Pajek, "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska, "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht, "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska, "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska, "An eye for an eye" by Julia Płoch, "The Notebook" by Aleksandra Rylewicz, "Norma" by Agata Mianowska, "Thicket" by Adrianna Matwiejczuk, "The Other" by Marta Magnuska as well as the awarded film by Barbara Rupik.

The awarded film "The Little Soul" tells about a dead body located on the banks of the river. Its decaying insides still envelop the soul - a miniature of the body of the deceased. The rotting organs come apart and a tiny figure forces its way through to the outside. Standing on the river bank, it says goodbye to its body and sets out on the journey to the posthumous world.

You can find more information about the festival on its  website.
