SUMMER OF SMOOTH ASPHALT

POLISH TITLE: LATO GŁADKIEGO ASFALTU

The heat is so intense that the electronics are overheating. A short circuit occurs at the travelling funfair. The queues come to a halt, the lights go out, the hubbub ceases; only a few sounds can be heard from the rubbish bin. It is a toy radio, which eloquently comments on the surrounding reality, reveals the romantic entanglements of bored employees and lays bare the inner emptiness of the fairground’s visitors. A brief power cut offers a moment’s respite and an opportunity to take a closer look at the daily life of a place that never stops.
